Meet The Douglas’
Mike Douglas grew up on his family farm in St. Anne, IL. After graduating from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, he worked at the Flora Veterinary Clinic until 2004. Before starting his practice in Salem, Mike was the State Veterinarian at Fairmont Park Racetrack.
Raised in the Chicago suburbs, Britt Douglas competed in the Illinois Hunter Jumper Association until high school graduation in 1989. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and was accepted into Southern Illinois University’s Master’s program in Equine Reproduction. Britt graduated from the University of Illinois’ Veterinary program in 2002 and became an associate veterinarian at the Flora Veterinary Clinic. Later, she joined Mike at the Fairmont Park Racetrack as the first female State Veterinarian. In 2006, they started Douglas Veterinary Clinic.
Together since undergraduate school, Mike and Britt married in 2002. They have 3 children—Ella, Martin, and Adeline— and live on a farm with many animals. They enjoy all types of outdoor activities and adventures. The Douglas’ also love their careers and look forward to advancing technologies in preserving animal health and well-being.
